TOEFL scores to be out faster
The Test of English as Foreign Language(TOEFL) scores will now reach students and universities they apply to in less amount of time. According to ETS officials the time taken to report TOEFL scores on line has been reduced from the earlier three to two weeks now. Printed score cards would also be delivered faster. Many more improvements are being planned by the testing agency.

CAT applications dip
For the first time in CAT history none of the applications received on line were rejected this year indicating a dip in the number of applicants. Lats year 2.76 lakh applications were registered but only 2.46 applicants took the exam. This year owing to the economic uncertainty applications to the Common Admission Test to the IIMs have come down by 12%. The numbers have come down to 2.41 Lakh this year.

IIM students back in demand
Many of the Indian Institutes of Management have completed their summer placements or are in the process of it. The trend seems to have taken a reversal from last year's lack luster performance. As per unconfirmed sources IIM B has seen the highest percentage of recruiters from investment banking segment at around 19 per cent with biggest being Goldman Sachs. The lowest segment is of private equity. All the 348 students have been placed in the same period this year.

Second day at the CAT faces issues due to virus attack
After a disastrous start of the computer based CAT the second consecutive day also saw computers crash across exam centers due to virus attack. Following the first day's problems the organizers of the nationwide entrance test had put up a notification on the CAT IIM website informing candidates of the closure of a few of the affected testing labs across a few centers for the second day in order to rectify the issue. Of the total 360 labs around 50 labs reported issues with its computers and around 2000 tests could not be delivered on the first day. Bangalore was the worst affected and 11 of its testing labs remained closed on the second day. Day 5 of CAT remained hassle free
As per reports by PTI the CAT process across centers on the fifth day was largely hassle free barring the two labs which remained closed which was declared earlier. Meanwhile, some students appearing for CAT at L J Institute of Management Studies, Ahmedabad faced difficulties due to power cut during the exam. The institute authorities used a generator to restore power supply and alloted extra time to the students to complete the test.
